Can’t Travel Right Now? Be the Host!
This article came about because of my inability to travel at the moment. Time off work is limited and my budget won’t allow for much travel these days so I thought this would be a good time to be the host.
For me, traveling entails adventure and exploring the cultures of the places I go. Unfortunately, in the past I have tended to leave the city or town that I live in to go explore other places and completely overlook what I have sitting right in front of me. Being the host will give me the chance to connect more with what my own city has to offer while sharing it with other people.
Wanderlust Defined

Alaska
A few years after I graduated from high school, I went to Alaska for the summer to visit my best friend Renee and her then boyfriend Joe, who I went to high school with. I was living in Florida at the time and I couldn’t stand the intense heat of Florida summers. I also had an immature on-and-off relationship with a guy at that time. Let’s just say, I didn’t have too much to leave behind. So, I bought a round-trip plane ticket from Miami to Anchorage, leaving in June and returning at the end of August. I got on the plane, went to Alaska, and never came back to Florida again. It was one of the best decisions of my life.
Kauai Time: On the Garden Island
My last day in Hawaii was a good one. I relaxed on the beach all the way up until I left for the airport at 3pm. If it were my choice, I would have never left. Unfortunately life (and my job) pushed me to get on that plane…literally. I arrived in Chicago at 5am and went straight to work until 4pm. Crazy, I know. So now that I’ve been home and have recovered from the 5-hour time-zone difference, I thought this would be the best time to stir up some memories of my trip.
